Presents the 24th Annual

San Diego International Conference

on Child and Family Maltreatment

January 24 - 29, 2010

Welcome . . .

Beautiful San Diego warmly welcomes you! We are delighted you have chosen to participate in the International Conference on Child and Family Maltreatment. Our 24th annual event is presented by the Chadwick Center for Children and Families at Rady Children’s Hospital.

An outstanding program brings together some of the most respected professionals from around the world to share and learn from one another. Nearly two thousand professionals, from 50 states and 6 continents, attended in 2009 and, even in the face of these changing times, a large turnout is attending this year. A faculty of over 200 top scientists, clinicians and front line professionals from around the globe will offer 9 pre/postconference trainings and institutes, over 160 workshops and 4 plenary sessions.

Our focus is on learning together and spreading the best practices available for children and families, whose hope for a better future often depends upon us all. Strong science of evidence-based and informed practices are balanced with practical experience and real world solutions with special emphasis on the “art” of delivering evidence-based practices.

In addition to our traditional focus on medicine, law, investigation, mental health treatment, child welfare, interviewing, domestic violence, prevention, Child Advocacy Centers, diverse populations and research, special tracks and mini tracks will feature clinical innovations, information technology, responses to abuse in Arab cultures, law and ethics, adolescent issues and the art and science of abuse measurement in society. A special week-long course on Child Abuse Investigation Training is offered by OJJDP and Fox Valley Technical College.

We are grateful to be united in these efforts with a wide range of national and international collaborators. Extensive support has been given by the Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the California Department of Social Services-Office of Child Abuse Prevention, Office for Victims of Crime and the National Child Traumatic Stress Network.

Please join us to reignite your passion and help build the future of protecting children in every community around the world.
