GROWING CHAMPIONS: INNOVATIVE APPROACHES TO CONSULTATION AND TRAINING IN EVIDENCE SUPPORTED, TRAUMA-FOCUSED TREATMENTS Shannon Dorsey, Monica Fitzgerald, Jason Lang EST implementation and dissemination efforts could be significantly enhanced by learning more about specific training/consultation procedures and processes that may enhance uptake of ESTs by clinicians in community settings. Gaining information about Innovative approaches to "growing" local champions to promote use and sustainability of evidence based practices would also make a valuable contribution to this emerging field of implementation research. MANAGING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL LIFE: EMPATHY, COUNTER TRANSFERENCE, VICARIOUS TRAUMA, AND LISTENING Jon Conte Understanding and managing the impact of child abuse work on the personal life and the ways in which the personal life can impact the work. Review of a range of concepts from mental health that help this process and outline a model of self care to sustain a vital, effective, and risk avoidant professional practice.
CHILD PARENT PSYCHOTHERAPY, PART 1 Patricia Van Horn This session will cover the core competencies, basic intervention goals and treatment modalities of Child-Parent Psychotherapy with traumatized young children and their caregivers. It will also include basic information about the impact of trauma on the parent-child relationship and the young child's development and assessment and formulating strategies.
CHILD PARENT PSYCHOTHERAPY, PART 2 Patricia Van Horn This session will build on the material from Child-Parent Psychotherapy 1 and will include vignette or video-based exercises on intervention strategies. It will also include material on supervision in the child-parent psychotherapy model and training in child-parent psychotherapy, covering implementation challenges and ways to meet them.

COMBINED PARENT-CHILD COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL TREATMENT: INNOVATIVE STRATEGIES FOR BROACHING SENSITIVE SUBJECT MATTER IN TRAINING MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS AND INITIATING ENGAGEMENT WITH FAMILIES Christina Bach, Melissa Runyon, Polly Thornhill Innovative adult learning procedures and motivational interviewing techniques will be presented and practiced to diffuse defensiveness and create an opportunity for a paradigm shift when broaching sensitive topics, such as corporal punishment, and related biases in both clients and professionals. These procedures may be useful in both the implementation and dissemination of evidence based practices, such as Combined Parent-Child Cognitive Behavioral Treatment for Families At-Risk for Child Physical Abuse.
