Impact of film and television on society's perceptions of child abuse and family violence

We would like to invite you to suggest films or television shows that you think had a major impact on society’s view/perception of abuse and neglect and/or how our systems respond to it.  We recognize such impact may be positive and helpful or could have been unfair or even harmful.  Do not include news or news magazine shows (60 Minutes, Dateline, etc) as our focus is on dramatic presentations.

Think about it broadly over time (could be from any year).

Example: The ABC Presentation of Something About Amelia  in 1984 offered one of the first dramatic presentations of incest where the family was outwardly “normal” and even appealing, with Ted Danson as the abuser. Referrals jumped over night and it was all the sudden OK to talk about intrafamily sexual abuse publicly.  The movie later won an Emmy.
