Trauma Prevention and Early Intervention Initiatives
The Trauma PEI Intiatives Department includes grant-funded programs that support prevention and early intervention initiatives in child abuse and trauma treatment, including Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health (IECMH) services.
Current programs and services include:

- KidSTART Clinic – Provides comprehensive services to children ages 0-6 with complex socio-emotional, behavioral health, developmental, medical and/or family needs. Services include individual, dyadic and group therapy, case management, rehabilitation services, psychiatric evaluations and medication management. The funding source for KidSTART Clinic requires children have Medi-Cal insurance.
- BrightConnections – Aims to enhance outcomes for expecting parents, children ages 0-5 and their caregivers through strengthening connections within families and across a diverse range of professionals. Using a trauma-informed integrated approach, the project offers direct clinical services, training for professionals and early childhood mental health consultation.
- Within BrightConnections is the BrightConnections Family Center which provides clinic and community-based services during perinatal period and to children ages 0-5 with complex socio-emotional, behavioral health, developmental, medical and/or family needs. Services include individual, dyadic and group therapy, case management, rehabilitation services, psychiatric evaluations and medication management. Families with private or no insurance are eligible.
- Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) Agency Mentorship Program (C.A.M.P.) – An 18-month mentoring process where CPP Agency Mentors will train Chadwick Center CPP-rostered clinicans to become CPP trainers.
